A trio of Trojans competed in the heptathlon hosted by Louisiana-Lafayette in Lafayette, Louisiana, at the Louisiana Classic on Friday, March 25.

Gemma Finch, from Newbury, United Kingdom, earned a fifth-place finish in the heptathlon. The freshman finished six points short of fourth place overall.

Finch took home a first place finish in the 800 meter with a time of 2:20.28, enough to earn her 820 points. Her effort in the high jump saw her tied for second with a leap of 1.65 meters.

Finch took fifth place in the 100m hurdles.

Junior Riley Schwietz of Frisco, Texas, swept up sixth place, just behind Finch. Schwietz competed in the javelin throw and 100 meter hurdles.

The Texan’s 35.69-meter toss was the best of the field and earned her 585 points. Her 15.63 second finish in the 100-meter hurdles added 760 points to the tally.

Sophomore Elizabeth Locklier, a native of Auburn, Alabama, locked a ninth-place finish with her displays in the 100-meter hurdles, high jump and the 200-meter dash.

The Trojans will return to action on Thursday, March 31, when they travel to Auburn to participate in the three-day Tiger Classic.
